Create an asset in TWINALIZE
To effectively manage your IT landscape, you first need a solid foundation of data. Creating and logging your assets is the essential first step toward building that foundation, enabling you to track everything with ease.
In this guide, we’ll walk you through the process step by step, showing you how to create an IT asset and which key details to record, ensuring nothing is overlooked.
1. Start creating an asset:
Begin by navigating to the "Assets" section from your dashboard. On a desktop, you’ll find "Assets" in the sidebar, while on a mobile device, it will be located in the menu bar at the bottom.
In the "Assets" section, select the appropriate location and click "Create New Asset". Alternatively, you can click the "+" icon in the top-right corner to add a new asset.
2. Enter the required data:
First, provide an Asset Name. Choose a name that is clear and logical, as this will be the identifier for your asset and will appear in asset overviews.
Next, select the correct Function for your asset from the dropdown list.
If applicable, choose the relevant Type of asset from the provided list.
3. Add optional data (if necessary):
In addition to the required fields, you can also enter optional information. These fields are not mandatory, but they can provide valuable context and additional tracking capabilities:
- Serial Number
- Inventory ID
- Lifecycle State
- Attachments
- Images
- Tags
4. Save your asset:
After you add all the data you need, click the “Save” button on the bottom of the screen in the desktop version or the “Create” button on the top right corner of the smartphone version.
After the asset is saved, you can find it in its respective location. To edit or delete the asset, click and open the asset and click "Edit".
